A Chinese World Landmark

Many foreign countries published Landmark books, usually with the agreement of Random House. Some published what essentially are an abridged series, incorporating a relatively large number of titles. One publisher included 21 books in his list of Landmark volumes. In some cases, a foreign printer would publish just one or two titles, focusing on only those of immediate interest to the local readers. One of the latter was the Taipei Literature House. They published The Man Who Changed China - The Story of Sun Yat-sen (W-18 in the World Series). The image used in this post is a picture of what I think is an example of that title. The contents are in English and the page size is approximately 5 by 7 inches. Unfortunately I don't read Chinese so I can't be certain this is the Taipei Literature House product, as the information detailing the printer is in that language. I am including a shot of the title page and it's facing page in case you can confirm or deny my conclusion. In any event, I think it would be an interesting addition to any Landmark collection to include examples of some of the various foreign press titles. In some cases, it would be possible to collect the entire foreign mini-series from one or more of these printers. There will be cases where this is a practical impossibility due to the difficulty you'd run into trying to locate and obtain some of these books. My recently published Collector's Guide and Checklist to World Landmark Books goes into this opportunity in more detail for those interested in this topic.
